DESCRIPTION:Take your leadership ability to the next level\, find purpose\, and expand your business contacts. \n\n\n\nLeaders Learning & Connecting (LLC) is a networking and mentoring group provided by the Kirkwood - Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce.\n\n \nJoin other Leaders as we learn and grow together.\n\n \n\nWe are honored to have Jim Gura\, of Stonebridge Financial Group\, as our Speaker for this month's LLC\n\n \n\n"Embracing The Suck"\n\n \n\nBorn and raised in the Chicagoland area\, I grew up in a close-knit family where the value of hard work and unconditional love was instilled early on. My parents\, along with my grandparents who lived next door\, supported me and my younger brother in every way possible\, from attending swim meets to being the "just jury" when my brother and I needed a neutral voice. My Dad's dedication to long hours of work allowed my Mom to stay home and care for us\, which shaped the person I am today. While my initial ambition was to become an electrical engineer\, I quickly realized in high school that finance was my true passion. This realization led me to pursue a career on the multiple worldwide exchanges\, where I thrived in the fast-paced world of trading.\n\n \n\nAfter graduating with a degree in Finance\, I built a successful career as a Senior Trader\, joining Marquette Partners in 1997 and spending 15 years pioneering electronic trading formats across global exchanges. Around the same time\, I met my wife Jennifer\, and we started a family\, welcoming two daughters\, Joslynn and Jasmine. In 2011\, we decided to slow down the adrenaline rush of trading and transitioned into financial advising\, focusing on helping people craft personalized financial/investment plans. We relocated to St. Louis\, Jennifer's hometown\, where we excitedly are now preparing for the next stage of life as empty nesters.
