Mary Quandt, Director of Public Health Policy at Missouri Appleseed
About Missouri Appleseed: Missouri Appleseed works to improve the systems and policies at the intersection of public health, criminal justice, and child welfare. Through research, advocacy, and education, Missouri Appleseed believes all families deserve the opportunity to thrive.
Summary: Missouri Appleseed uses research advocacy, and education to promote legislation and policies that directly improve the lives of Missouri's children and families. In a political environment that is often divided, we foster bipartisan support for common sense public health and criminal justice legislation. Join Missouri Appleseed to learn about our 2024 legislative priorities, including banning the shackling of pregnant women in Missouri jails, eliminating the luxury sales tax on diapers and feminine products, and ensuring incarcerated pregnant women are served enough healthy food to support healthy pregnancies. Additionally, we will discuss an exciting project taking place at the St. Louis County jail, where Medicaid enrollment is reducing barriers to healthcare and increasing reentry success.
