Suffragists in St. Louis
Join historian Samantha Smith as she talks about the incredible role St. Louis played in the Women's Suffrage Movement. The talk will specifically highlight the role Virginia Minor played in the movement and the aftermath of the Minor v. Happersett Supreme Court ruling. St. Louis suffragists inspired key moments in the movement but are often overshadowed by more recognizable names. It's time to bring them into the light and for the suffragists in St. Louis to take their rightful place in history. 

Samantha Smith is part of the Visitor Experience Team at the Missouri History Museum. Before joining the museum in August 2025, Samantha worked as a visitor services assistant at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine's site, Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Office Museum and as a tour guide at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. She got her start working in museums at The Hunt Museum in Limerick, Ireland after earning her master's degree from the University of Limerick. She has written articles for the Irish Museum Association's journal as well as the Skylights Journal published by the Capitol. 

While Samantha does a bit of everything at the Missouri History Museum from greeting guests to giving a World's Fair Gallery Talk to researching and writing online content, her area of expertise is in women's history. Each of her four college degrees touches on different realms of women's history, and she loves sharing her passion for the topic with everyone. 

The Chamber Women's Group is a group of like-minded women who desire to make a greater connection to help each other grow their businesses and resources.  We meet the third Thursday of each month.  Women Helping Women Succeed!  Never a dull moment with this group!
